Frequently Asked Questions
Thank you for considering River City Solutions for all of your training needs. Below you will find the following frequently asked questions to help you find out more about River City Solutions, our classes, location with directions, and while you are here, places to stay and where to dine. What time do classes start and finish?
We offer half day, full day, two day and three day classes. Any of our full day classes begin at 8:30 a.m. and typically end at 4:30 p.m., depending on class progress, questions and so on.
Where are you located?
River City Solutions is located in the heart of Kansas City in the historic River Market district at 116 W 3rd Street, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO. We are Please click here for a Google Map and driving directions.
What type of computers and operating systems do you use?
We have 20” Apple iMacs with Core2Duo processors with 4GB of RAM. All of our Apple computers are using BootCamp software to dual-boot between Microsoft XP Professional and Mac OS X (Snow Leopard). Each student can choose which system to use at system boot. The best part, all our software is up to date on both Windows and Macintosh, using the newest software like Adobe CS4, Microsoft Office 2007 and 2008. QuickBooks, iLife and iWorks.
Are your classes hands-on?
Yes. We believe that the best way to learn is being at a computer working with the instructor and each other. The instructor explains the processes along with showing on an over head projector with examples, then having you complete the task using the computer in class.
Can you recommend any good hotels and restaurants?
Hotels: Being located in the heart of Kansas City we are surrounded by hotels, plus we are easily located off the central downtown loop making it easy to drive here if you stay outside the area.
Restaurants: We are not short of restaurants in River Market where River City Solutions is located, from BBQ, Italian, Mediterranean, vegetarian and much, much more. There are a large group of eclectic restaurants and all within walking distance. The one thing you will not find in the River Market district are fast food or chain restaurants. Plus we have a kitchen for those who want to bring their own lunch.
What are your class policies and procedures?
Payment: Training classes payment is due the first day of class. We accept company checks, Master Card and Visa.
Cell Phones and Email: We ask that cell phones,Black Berries, iPhones and such be turned off during training. Attendees will have access to their cell phones and email during breaks and lunchtime.
Class cancellation: Without penalty cancellation must be at least six (6) business days before the scheduled training. Registration cancellations within four (4) business days will be refunded, less a $50 cancellation fee per attendee. If you cannot attend your registered class, you may send a substitute to your class or a credit, less the cancellation fee, will be issued toward a future training session. Any cancellation received within three (3) business days or less will be charged at the full class rate.
Reschedule: If you notify us within four (4) business days that you are unable to attend a class but you are able to reschedule within two months or when the class is offered again, you will not be charged a $50 cancellation fee. For more details please contact us at 816-300-HELP (4357).
Re-Takes: If you want to re-take the same class within a 6 month period, you can for free. Please contact us to make sure that there is enough room in the class you want to re-take.
Weather: Of course, we have to be careful about the ever-changing weather in this part of the country. In the case of inclement weather, we may cancel classes if the local colleges and community colleges cancel classes. The best bet is to use common sense and never take a risk to get to one of our classes. More than likely, we have cancelled the class, anyway. We will simply move the class to another day or take care of the training another way. Feel free to call 816-300-HELP (4357) any time, night or day, to check on class cancellations due to bad weather. You might consider checking out www.weather.com for up-to-date weather information.
Schedule changes: Quite often we are faced with the task of accommodating many schedules. This can be a challenge. As a result, we may have to move the class schedules from time-to-time. We almost never cancel a class because of low enrollment and we will work with you directly to find the best available fit for your schedule.
Attire: We believe that everyone learns better when they are relaxed, and we encourage our attendees to dress comfortably, so jeans are certainly welcome.
What is your typical class size?
The Learning Lab at River City Solutions seats up to 8 attendees, We purposely keep our class sizes small as we have found students learn more and are able to have the attention needed from our instructors. This gives us the opportunity to focus on the specific needs and tools that you need for your job and upcoming projects.
Do you offer discounts on training?
We give a 10% discount to all non-protit organizations, this includes - churches, government, teachers and any organization with a 501c3 status. We may ask that you bring with you at class time a copy of your non-profit letter. We partner with many local groups in the Kansas City area. If you belong to AIGA, Freelance Exchange KC, BNI then you too will receive a 10% discount on training.
Do you offer customized training?
We love working with clients or individuals on customizing training specific to your needs. We do suggest that your training happens at our location in The Learning Lab at River City Solutions, office distractions can make any leaning difficult.
1-to-1: We offer one to one training for individuals who are looking for training in a specific task. One-to-one is offered at your location or in the Learning Lab.
Groups: Customizing a class for companies, groups or organizations is right up our alley. Classes can include detailed guidelines that you need to get out to your employees, along with training specific needs in an application.
